Union with Christ

Beneficial results of:

Righteousness imputed.
2 Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Justification by Faith.
Ge 15:6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Ac 13:39 Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.

Ro 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.

Ro 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ro 5:18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.

Ro 9:30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;

1 Co 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Gal 3:24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.

Christ's Sinlessness.
Isa 53:9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.

Lk 23:41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

Jn 8:46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me?

2 Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Heb 1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin.

Heb 7:26 Such a high priest meets our need - one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

Heb 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

1 Pe 1:19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

1 Pe 2:22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."

1 Jn 3:5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.

Christ our Saviour.

Became Man's Substitute.
Ps 69:9 for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.

Isa 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

2 Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Gal 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."

Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

Heb 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

1 Pe 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

1 Pe 3:18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,

Bore the Sins of Many.
Isa 53:12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Php 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ - the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

Faith.

Justification by Faith.
Habakkuk 2:4 "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright - but the righteous will live by his faith

Ro 4:3 What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."

Ro 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Php 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ - the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

Heb 10:38 But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."

Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead.

The Folly of Self-Righteousness.
Dt 9:4 After the LORD your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, "The LORD has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness." No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is going to drive them out before you.

Job 9:20 Even if I were innocent, my mouth would condemn me; if I were blameless, it would pronounce me guilty.

Job 35:2 "Do you think this is just? You say, 'I will be cleared by God. '

Pr 12:15 The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.

Pr 20:6 Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?

Pr 21:2 All a man's ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.

Pr 30:12 those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth;

Jer 2:35 you say, 'I am innocent; he is not angry with me.' But I will pass judgment on you because you say, 'I have not sinned.'

2 Co 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

Rev 3:17 You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

Freedom from condemnation.
Ro 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Note: Later manuscripts have. 'Who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.'

No Condemnation,

for the righteous.
Isa 50:9 It is the Sovereign LORD who helps me. Who is he that will condemn me? They will all wear out like a garment; the moths will eat them up.

Lk 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Jn 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

Jn 5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

Ro 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Ro 8:34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

1 Jn 3:21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God.

Freedom from dominion of sin.

Of Divine Origin.
Jn 1:13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

Blameless Living.
1 Th 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Righteous Not Ashamed.
Ps 119:6 Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands.

Isa 50:7 Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

Ro 9:33 As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

Php 1:20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

1 Pe 4:16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

2 Co 10:1 By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you - I, Paul, who am "timid" when face to face with you, but "bold" when away!

Php 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Col 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Heb 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.

Heb 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Pe 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

False teachers have not.
Col 2:18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.

The Rewards of the Faithful for Spiritual Service.

The Soul-Winners.
Da 12:3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

The Benevolent.
Lk 6:35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Jn 4:36 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.

The Good of All Nations.

Rev 3:17 You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

Sinful Mind.
Ro 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.

Ro 8:7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.

Eph 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Col 1:21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour.

Col 2:18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.

Tit 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Causes of Spiritual Loss.

Sin.
Jer 5:25 Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.

Mt 16:26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

Breach of Trust.
Mt 25:27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

Mt 25:28 "'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents.

Mt 25:29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

Worldliness.
Mk 8:36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

False Foundation.
Lk 6:49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

Prodigality.
Lk 15:13 "Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.

Imperfect Service.
1 Co 3:13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.

1 Co 3:15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

The Work of Deceivers.
Ro 16:18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

2 Co 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

Eph 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.

2 Ti 3:13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Tit 1:10 For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group.

2 Jn 1:7 Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

Rev 18:23 The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again. Your merchants were the world's great men. By your magic spell all the nations were led astray.

Col 2:19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

Is indissoluble.

* Ro 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

Battle of Life.

Promises of Ultimate Triumph.

Over Evil Influences of Men.
Ps 44:5 Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes.

Malachi 4:3 Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things," says the LORD Almighty.

Over Malign Spiritual Forces.

Lk 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

Over Severest Afflictions.
Ro 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

Ro 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

2 Co 2:14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

2 Co 10:4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

Over Worldly Enticements.
1 Jn 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Over All Satanic Powers.
Rev 15:2 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God

Afflictions and Tribulation are a Part of Earthly Experience.
Dt 4:30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him.

Mt 24:21 For then there will be great distress, unequalled from the beginning of the world until now - and never to be equalled again.

Jn 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Ac 14:22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God," they said.

Ro 5:3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;

1 Th 3:4 In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know.

Rev 2:9 I know your afflictions and your poverty - yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Rev 7:14 I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Suffering for Righteousness' Sake.

Persecution.
Ps 7:1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me,

Ps 31:15 My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.

Ps 119:86 All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for men persecute me without cause.

Ps 119:157 Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes.

Ps 119:161 Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word.

Ps 143:3 The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead.

Jer 15:15 You understand, O LORD; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You are long-suffering - do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your sake.

Lamentations 5:5 Those who pursue us are at our heels; we are weary and find no rest.

The Inseparable Christ.

Believers Constantly:

Accompanied by his Presence.
Mt 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Held Close by His Hand.
Jn 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.

Like Branches in the Vine.
Jn 15:4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

In Perpetual Fellowship.
Jn 17:23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

No Power can Separate.
Ro 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,

Ro 8:39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
